Streaming Shorts App Shows Basics Fan Favorite Series

Two Apps Making Two Different Bets

At first sight, GoodShort and DramaWave seem like siblings. They both serve vertical, phone-first dramas in short episodes and offer weekly VIP passes, and they have both risen into the tens of millions of installs. Underneath, however, the two are placing very different bets about what viewers want in 2026. GoodShort relies on revenge, romance and family sagas with named casts, whereas DramaWave is betting heavily on AI-generated content at huge scale. The verified facts appear side by side in this review. After that comes the fun part, a bit of myth-busting about search terms that send people astray. Spoiler: DreamWave does streaming shorts app not exist, and GoldShort is probably not the app you want.

GoodShort Review

Per both its App Store and Google Play listings, GoodShort launched on June 12, 2023, the date both give. The seller on the App Store is Singapore New Reading Technology Pte. Ltd., and the Google Play developer is listed under the name GoodNovel. Baidu’s wiki, albeit a less reliable source, identifies the parent company as Beijing New Reading Times, which also produces the GoodNovel reading app. Its Google Play listing shows more than 50 million installs. Media Partners Asia estimates GoodShort’s share of the market at about 6%. That makes it a solid mid-tier player rather than one of the giants. If you search “good short app” or plain “goodshort”, you should be looking for exactly this listing and seller name.

What’s Inside GoodShort

The catalog thrives on revenge, regret and complicated families. Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter (64 episodes) follows Natalie, ousted when Monica is revealed as the true Parson heiress and framed for her grandmother’s murder. Kidnapped by the Mafia (86 episodes) has Violet sold by her boyfriend to mafia king Vincenzo as a contract bride, with assassins attacking at their wedding. In Three Strikes, Dad’s Out (65 episodes), heiress Karina’s secret husband William neglects his own child when the woman he still loves comes back with a son. A Korean rebirth story, He Took a Mistress I Took the Sky (62 episodes) follows Ji-young, who dies in a plane crash, wakes up before the tragedy and reclaims the pilot dream she gave up for her cheating husband. That last one premiered on March 27, 2026, and it originally carried the Korean title “Fly Again”. If what you really want from “good short movies” is a story told in bite-size cliffhangers, this lineup delivers.

GoodShort Prices, Perks and Caveats

As of September 2026, the US App Store lists a GoodShort Weekly VIP pass from around $5.99 to $19.99, and coin packs cost about $4.99 to $24.99 for 500 to 2,500 coins. Prices vary by country, platform and promotion, which means what you see in your own store may be different. The weekly pass auto-renews. Because deleting the app does not cancel it, cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings instead. Because paywalls tend to hit right at the cliffhanger and weekly passes add up quickly, the main caveat is the industry-wide one. The biggest perk is the catalog itself, which blends heiress revenge and mafia romance with a Korean rebirth drama in one place. Skip any site offering “unlimited coins” or a modded APK, since those are unofficial and not worth the risk to your account or device.

DramaWave Reviewed

The publisher of DramaWave is Skywork AI Pte. Ltd., part of Kunlun Tech’s Skywork and Tiangong AI business. Its launch came in September 2024, with Google Play listing September 12 and the App Store giving September 23. More than 100 million installs show up for DramaWave on Google Play. By March 2025 the app reportedly had more than 10 million monthly users and was operating at about $120 million in annualized revenue. Annualized revenue had reportedly topped $700 million by Q2 2026, while Media Partners Asia puts its market share at about 13%. That is a very steep climb for an app barely two years old.

What’s Inside DramaWave

DramaWave claims a library of more than 30,000 dramas in 18 languages, but that is the app’s own figure, not an independent count. The bigger story, though, is how much of that library is made with AI. Per a report on its 2026 performance, AI generates more than 80% of the newly released content on DramaWave. It is a striking number, and it helps explain how a young app can ship new titles at such a pace. To some viewers, a constant stream of fresh stories is the appeal. For others, it is a dealbreaker: AI-generated drama can feel very different from a cast of human actors. Before paying for anything, try a few episodes, and you will quickly find out which camp you are in.

DramaWave Prices, Perks and Caveats

In the US App Store as of September 2026, DramaWave’s Weekly VIP is listed at around $7.99 to $19.99 and a Monthly VIP at roughly $36.99. Prices, as always, vary by country, platform and promotion. Because it gives committed viewers an alternative to a pass that renews every seven days, the monthly tier is a genuine plus. Also on the app’s list are offline downloads, on-screen comments and 1080p video. Offline downloads are the standout for anyone who watches on planes or subways. Passes auto-renew and deleting the app does not cancel anything, so the caveats mirror GoodShort’s. The heavy reliance on AI-generated content is the other trade-off to consider.

GoodShort vs DramaWave in Brief

Placed next to each other, the two apps show sharper differences. GoodShort is older, having launched in June 2023, and smaller by installs. DramaWave is younger, having launched in September 2024, yet it already sits in a higher Google Play install tier and holds more than double GoodShort’s estimated market share. DramaWave’s feature list is longer on paper, but its new releases rely heavily on AI. GoodShort’s weekly pass starts a bit lower, whereas DramaWave offers a monthly option. The table sums up the verified facts and shows US App Store prices as of September 2026.

The Search Confusion, Busted

A lot of the traffic reaching these apps starts with a typo. Take dreamwave first. No real app called DreamWave appeared in store searches, so when people type “dreamwave” or “dream wave”, which they do all the time, they almost always mean DramaWave. Should a result be named DreamWave, verify the publisher before installing and look for Skywork AI. The second mix-up is sneakier. Search “goldshort” and you do find a real app, GoldShort TV from Goldbrid LLC, but it is a small Android TV app with more than 10,000 installs that was last updated in September 2025.

GoldShort TV has nothing to do with GoodShort, and most likely the search term is, more often than not, a misspelling of GoodShort. The good short family of searches runs even bigger. Searches like “Good short”, “good shorts”, “good shot”, “good short movie”, “good short movies”, “short good movies” and even “good shorter movies” all tend to point back to GoodShort. That final cluster deserves one honest caveat. GoodShort streams serialized dramas in short episodes, not stand-alone short films, so if you want a single self-contained film, look somewhere else. Want cliffhangers between meetings? You have come to the right place.

Who Should Pick Which

Choose DramaWave if sheer volume, offline downloads for travel, 1080p video and a monthly plan rather than a weekly one are what you want. You should also be comfortable with a catalog in which most new releases are AI-generated. Pick GoodShort if your taste runs to heiress revenge, mafia contract marriages and neglectful husbands running out of chances. Named casts come with its titles, several of them listed on IMDb. The marginally lower weekly entry price is a small bonus. Whichever you pick, set a reminder before any pass renews and cancel through your store settings if you are done. Steer clear of coin generators and modded APKs promising free unlocks, because they are not real, official products, even though both apps are.
